Our Plot
The Year is 2013. It has been many years since the disaster that destroyed the Opera Populaire, and after the 4th successive failed reopening as an Opera House back in 2006 the building stood empty for two years. Five years ago a group who saw potential came along and saw the option to reuse the building, not as an Opera House any more, but as a school. One that excelled in the arts, but overall taught a balanced curriculum. One that would facilitate students who were either very slow and struggling to understand or their parents paid to get them out of their hair. The Opera House Private School is this place.
It is set in the middle of Paris, in the old Opera Populaire, and it has succeeded. It has managed to successfully tutor those who the state couldn't help due to a lack of focus, or just a different way of understanding, as well as the rich kids who's parents own it all and have spoiled them rotten in the process. Of course there is still that strange thing to do with the Phantom, but he seems to be quiet and content for the most part. He's not seen that often, and his only real demands are his salary, which is nothing to the people who set it up. They can afford that from the funding they get from the state for allowing the less intelligent students in and excelling with them.
They put on shows, allowing budding stars the opportunity to get noticed by the high fliers of the Arts community, and even have a dedicated gallery exhibition space for their artists on the second floor. The students range from 13 - 24, but all are given a will to succeed and the tools to help them in their endeavours. Indeed the school is a rarity for it allows and encourages progression, and where it can for the older students brings in people from the outside world to give talks about what they do for a living, and how they got there.
It is a boarding school, and while the entrance hall is home to many teary farewells it also is the hub of the school, new people show up here, students and staff alike. The grand masquerade ball is a sight to behold as it fills the entrance hall. However not every area of the former Opera House is used, and there are plenty of empty rooms, and even whispers among the students of strange music being heard in some dormitories. What will you make of this old Opera House?
A welcoming, warm environment, or one filled with mysteries or even the sorrows of past wrongs?
Either way you're here now so I guess you'd best be welcomed to
The Opera House Private School.
